Solemn Mass: The Ascension of the Lord
A Solemn Mass will be sung for the Ascension of the Lord on Thursday 14 May at 6:30pm. A said lunchtime Mass will also be celebrated at 12:45pm.
In the mystery of the Ascension, the Church rejoices in Christ’s triumph and exaltation at the right hand of the Father. Ascending into the heavens, the Lord does not abandon His people, but draws the hearts and minds of the faithful towards the heavenly kingdom, where He reigns in glory and continually intercedes for us.
The Ascension of the Lord is a Holy Day of Obligation, on which the faithful are obliged to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. All are warmly invited to assist at either Mass.
The evening Solemn Mass will be celebrated according to Divine Worship: The Missal (Ordinariate Use).
