Good Friday
The Celebration of the Passion and Death of our Lord will take place on Good Friday, 3 April, at 3:00pm.
On this most solemn day, the Church stands in silence at the foot of the Cross, adoring Christ crucified, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. In the solemn proclamation of the Passion according to Saint John, in the great intercessions, and in the veneration of the holy Cross, the mystery of our redemption is set before us in awe and reverence.
All the faithful are warmly invited to assist at the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, according to Divine Worship: The Missal (Ordinariate Use).
Music list:
Plainchant: Passion according to St John
Anthem: Edward Bairstow – Lamentations of Jeremiah
Motet: William Byrd – Civitas sancti tui
Plainchant: Crux fidelis
Prayer after Communion (II):
O LORD Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, we pray thee to set thy Passion, Cross, and Death between thy judgement and our souls, now and in the hour of our death: vouchsafe to grant mercy and grace to the living, rest to the dead, to thy holy Church peace and concord, and to us sinners everlasting life and glory; who livest and reignest with the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
