Feast of the Baptism of the Lord
A Solemn Mass will be sung for The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord on Sunday 11 January at 10:30am.
In this holy feast, the Church rejoices in the manifestation of Christ at the Jordan, where He is revealed as the beloved Son of the Father and anointed by the Holy Ghost. As the Lord enters the waters of baptism, He sanctifies creation itself and inaugurates His saving ministry for the life of the world.
All the faithful are warmly invited to assist at this Solemn Mass, said according to Divine Worship: The Missal (Ordinariate Use), as we give thanks for our own baptism and renew our calling to live as children of God.
We look forward to welcoming Fr Dwight Longenecker, a well-known Catholic speaker and author, to the Solemn Mass.
Originally from an Evangelical background, Fr Longenecker became an Anglican clergyman, serving in Cambridge and on the Isle of Wight, until he and his family were received into the Catholic Church. In 2006, after ten years as a freelance writer and charity worker, he returned to the USA, was ordained, and now serves as Pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Greenville, South Carolina.

HEAVENLY Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ did take our nature upon him, and was baptised for our sakes in the river Jordan: mercifully grant that we, being regenerate and made thy children by adoption and grace, may also be partakers of thy Holy Spirit; through the same Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
