As a result of the Covid-19 virus and the subsequent lockdown, the church’s income has dropped significantly. The four-voice choir is no longer affordable.
There are two reasons for this: first, fewer people giving money on a weekly basis and, second, a significant reduction in rental income from offices in the building at 23 Golden Square (the house next to the presbytery at no. 24).
We have therefore decided to launch an appeal for £50,000 to maintain the church’s high musical standards.
But this is only the first part of our fund-raising campaign.
We are aware that the organ is in need of attention and, as the second part of our campaign, we intend to raise £200,000 to finance a rebuilding of the organ.
This campaign will begin once the music department is financially secure.

Our first fund-raising event was to have been a 12-hour organ marathon on Saturday 21st November 2020.
We have had to postpone this event due to the Government’s Covid-19 restrictions. Another date in December will be chosen for the Marathon. This will be publicised as soon as it has been agreed with the organists.
We have invited the volunteers who agreed to play on 21st November to play on the new date.
We will charge an entry fee to those coming to listen and we will also ask people to sponsor individual organists.
Fifteen organists have agreed to play during the day, each for about 45 minutes. Our guest organists will each create their own programmes of music.
The entire event will be streamed on our YouTube channel.
