He joins a select group: there are only 37 Doctors of the Church\, a title given to those who have not only been outstanding for personal holiness\, but whose writings have exercised a profound influence on our understanding of Christian doctrine over the centuries. \nWe will mark the Feast of St John Henry Newman\, and in celebration of his being named a Doctor of the Church\, with a Solemn Pontifical Mass.
