SUMMARY:Solemn Mass: Trinity II and Portugal Day
DESCRIPTION:A Solemn Mass will be sung on Sunday 14 June at 10:30am\, the Second Sunday after Trinity\, in celebration of Portugal Day\, the national day of Portugal. \nThe observance has a particular resonance at Warwick Street\, whose origins lie in the chapel of the Portuguese Embassy established here in 1724\, at a time when Catholic worship in England was severely restricted. Under the protection of the embassy the chapel became an important place of prayer for London’s Catholics\, and from these beginnings the present church of Our Lady of the Assumption and St Gregory developed. \nOn this day we give thanks for the Portuguese community whose faith and patronage formed part of the early history of Warwick Street\, and we commend the people and nation of Portugal to the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary. \nWe look forward to welcoming H.E. Nuno Brito\, Ambassador of Portugal to the Court of St James’s\, together with members of the Portuguese community\, on this occasion. \nAll the faithful are warmly invited to assist at this Solemn Mass\, celebrated according to Divine Worship: The Missal (Ordinariate Use). \nMusic list:Introit: Thomas Tallis – If ye love meSetting: Harold Darke – Collegium Regale in EPsalm: 120Creed: MerbeckeAnthem: Felix Mendelssohn – I waited for the LordHymns:All my hope on God is founded (NEH\, 333)Dear Lord and Father of mankind (NEH\, 353)Blest are the pure in heart (NEH\, 341)\nNational Anthems:\nA Portuguesa\nGod Save the King (NEH\, 489) \nO LORD\, who never failest to help and govern them whom thou dost bring up in thy steadfast fear and love: keep us\, we beseech thee\, under the protection of thy good providence; and make us to have a perpetual fear and love of thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord\, who liveth and reigneth with thee\, in the unity of the Holy Spirit\, ever one God\, world without end. Amen.

SUMMARY:Solemn Mass: Feast of Our Lady\, Protectress of Bavaria
DESCRIPTION:A Solemn Mass will be sung on Friday 1 May at 6:30pm in celebration of the Feast of Our Lady\, Protectress of Bavaria (Patrona Bavariae). \nThis title of the Blessed Virgin has long been honoured throughout Bavaria\, where the faithful commend themselves to her maternal protection and intercession. \nThe observance is especially fitting at Warwick Street\, which in the eighteenth century served as the chapel of the Bavarian Embassy to the Court of St James’s\, when the church was one of the few places in London where the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass could be publicly offered. \nOn this day we give thanks for the Bavarian community which formed an integral part of the church’s early history and for the Catholic witness preserved here in those years. \nAll the faithful are warmly invited to assist at this Solemn Mass\, celebrated according to Divine Worship: The Missal (Ordinariate Use). The sermon will be preached by Fr Christopher Lindlar. \nMusic list:Anthem: Felix Mendelssohn – Verleih uns FriedenSetting: Franz Schubert – Mass No. 2 in G majorHymn: Ignaz Franz – Großer Gott\, wir loben Dich \nCollect:O GOD\, who by the fruitful virginity of the Blessed Mary hast bestowed upon mankind the rewards of eternal salvation: grant\, we beseech thee; that we may experience her intercession for us\, through whom we have been made worthy to receive the Author of life\, our Lord Jesus Christ thy Son: who liveth and reigneth with thee\, in the unity of the Holy Spirit\, ever one God\, world without end. SUMMARY:Stations of the Cross: Maria Desolata
DESCRIPTION:There will be the traditional Good Friday devotion of Maria Desolata at 6.30pm. \nIn this moving form of the Stations of the Cross\, the usual order is reversed\, inviting the faithful to accompany Our Lady as she returns home from Calvary. In prayer and silence\, we retrace the sorrowful path of the Passion from her perspective\, meditating on the sufferings of her Son and the desolation of a mother who has witnessed His death. \nThis devotion offers a particularly poignant way to enter into the mystery of Good Friday\, contemplating not only the Passion of Our Lord\, but also the steadfast faith and sorrow of the Blessed Virgin Mary. \nAll are warmly encouraged to attend\, especially those who may not have experienced this beautiful tradition before.
