Septuagesima

1 February @ 10:30 am - 11:45 am GMT

A Solemn Mass will be sung for Septuagesima (the Third Sunday before Lent) on Sunday 1 February at 10:30am.

With Septuagesima the Church enters a more penitential season, turning her gaze from the joys of Epiphanytide toward the solemn disciplines of Lent. In these pre-Lenten days we are reminded of the labour of the Christian life, the frailty of human nature, and our utter dependence upon the mercy and grace of God.

All the faithful are warmly invited to assist at this Solemn Mass, said according to Divine Worship: The Missal (Ordinariate Use).

Music list:
Introit:
Richard Judson – O nata lux
Setting: Franz Schubert – Mass in G
Psalm: 9
Creed: Merbecke
Anthem: Andrew Carter – Mary’s Magnificat
Motet: Johannes Eccard – When to the temple Mary went
Hymns:
Christ, whose glory fills the skies (NEH, 234)
Of the Father’s heart begotten (NEH, 33)
Faithful vigil ended (NEH, 44 Tune: Pastor Pastorum)

O LORD, we beseech thee favourably to hear the prayers of thy people: that we, who are justly punished for our offences, may be mercifully delivered by thy goodness, for the glory of thy Name; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
