Ash Wednesday
A Solemn Mass with the Imposition of Ashes will be sung for Ash Wednesday at 6:30pm.
On this most solemn day, the Church enters the holy season of Lent, calling the faithful to repentance, self-examination, and conversion of life. Marked with ashes on our foreheads, we are reminded of our mortality and our need to turn again to the Lord with fasting, prayer, and works of mercy.
All the faithful are welcome to assist at this Solemn Mass, said according to Divine Worship; The Missal, and encouraged to observe this Day of Fasting and Abstinence with devotion and reverence.
Music list:
Introit: Lent Prose; Psalm 51
Setting: Domenico Scarlatti – Missa Quatuor Vocum

Forty days and forty nights (NEH, 67)
Lord Jesus, think on me (NEH, 70)
ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou hast made, and dost forgive the sins of all them that are penitent: create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins, and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
