Bishop David Arthur Waller

The Ordinary

Bishop David is the first Bishop Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham.

He was educated in Hornsey, North London and the University of Leeds. After completing formation for Anglican Orders at Chichester Theological College, his Anglican ministry began, in 1991 in Aldwick and later in Crawley in the Diocese of Chichester, before he took on the post of Vicar of St Saviour’s, Walthamstow in East London in 2000. He also served on the General Synod of the Church of England from 2005-2010. Father Waller was received into the Catholic Church in 2011 as part of the first group of Anglican clergy and their people in response to the generous offer of a home under the provisions of Pope Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Constitution, Anglicanorum Coetibus.

Father Mark Elliot Smith

The Rector

Fr Mark Elliott Smith was born in North London, and studied at the Royal Academy of Music, Heythrop College, University of London. He studied for his Anglican ministry at St Stephen’s House, Oxford. After curacies in Kilburn and Tottenham, he became Vicar of St Paul’s, New Southgate and, six years later, St Paul the Apostle, Tottenham. He was ordained as a Priest of the Ordinariate on 10th June 2011, and has served as pastor of the Central London Ordinariate group since then and, on Palm Sunday in 2013, he was appointed Parish Priest of our Lady of the Assumption, and now serves on the Governing Council of the Ordinariate.
